You’re not stuck, you have great hope!

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”  ~Luke 2:10

How close are you to not caring about Christmas?   If you feel stuck in life without hope for change, you may have lost your excitement for Christmas morning.

Forbes magazine featured a survey earlier this year that showed 65% of the respondents were unsatisfied with their job.  That’s a lot of people who feel stuck.  Are you one of them?

I wonder if the shepherds were happy with what they were doing.  Watching sheep for a living might not be at the top of the list for your next career move.

But when the night sky exploded with angels shouting “Glory to God in the highest!”, those shepherds didn’t see their jobs the same way ever again.  I bet they must have said later, “If I wasn’t out there that night, I would have missed the most important moment of my life!”.

The Bible tells us that three things happened after the angels left:

1.  They worshipped the King

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby

2.  They went and told others about the King

and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said

3.  They returned to their daily routine with a new hope

The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God

These shepherds had an important job.  Scholars believe that they provided the first born lambs for sacrifice in the temple just miles away in Jerusalem.  These lambs had to be wrapped with swaddling cloths at birth so they would be without blemish.  Without these shepherds, the holy sacrifice at the temple couldn’t happen.

Your place in life is pretty important in God’s perspective.  Look at the people around you and the influence you can have on them.  Realize the hope that Jesus has given us all and know that spreading this hope can be the most fulfilling thing in the world – no matter where you are.  Take great joy in this.
