The power of our prayers today

At a time when so many of us are enduring challenges in our own lives, we are witnessing the devastation of the flooding in New Jersey and New York.  Our struggles today suddenly seem minor in comparison to the families that have lost everything.

We need to be in prayer right now as the church for all the civil servants:  firefighters, police, infrastructure workers, etc.  Their next couple of weeks will be life changing.  Pray as many of them will be risking their own safety to help those in desperate need today.

Please don’t ever forget the power of prayer.  Don’t minimize the importance of prayer.   It seems like a small thing to do when we can send money and resources and figure out in our own strength how to fix things.  In God’s eyes, however, our money, resources and strength are very small compared to what He can do.

” The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”  ~ James 5:16b
