When your heart moves faster than your brain

My heart starts to beat a little faster when I know the Olympics are right around the corner.  Our U.S. team is heading over to London right now to compete for their dream – Gold.  I get caught up in it and start thinking… “I need to be outside doing something right now”.

So, during a casual conversation this week, I somehow got talked into being trained to increase my running speed!  That’s what happens when your heart is moving faster than your brain.  The morning after that conversation, I realized that I committed myself to pain in the near future.  But you have to break yourself down in order to build up.  That’s an absolute truth that you can’t avoid in order to become better.

“So I run with purpose in every step.”  1 Corinthians 9:26

As I’m writing this, I have my running clothes on getting ready to hit the pavement.  What are some things you’re doing this week to become better?  How painful is it?
