War Zone

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12 NIV)

Port Au Prince, Haiti – Tonight, you can’t make this stuff up. Our enemy came out in force against the first night of our evangelistic crusade.
It took us much longer than it should have to get to the event. Our bus pulled up at 6:00 and we were all wondering – “where are the lights?”. The generator that was running fine, blew up at 6:00 just before we pulled in!
As the crew was working on the back up lighting, the praise and worship started and the crowd started to form in the dark. At 6:30, the backup lighting came on for a few minutes, then went out. Then it started to rain.
Now, I had just asked one of our interpreters about 45 minutes earlier how long had it been since the last rain. He told me it hadn’t rained since mid October. It has been very dry and dusty. And I was just noticing before it got dark that there wasn’t a cloud in the sky tonight!
Lightning and thunder started and we had to cancel the event for tonight.
We were praying over all these things in large groups, and we are resolved to punch back tomorrow by preaching the Gospel message in an even more powerful way.

  1. Pastor Dave – we are praying for you all this day! God is still in control and I can’t wait to see how He moves tonight and tomorrow.

    The LORD is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
    29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
    30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
    31 but those who hope in the LORD
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.
    Isaiah 40:28-31

    My prayer is that you each will be renewed and strengthened and ready to fight the next battle. God has the victory! To Him be the Glory!
    Your sister in Christ,
    Julie
