Pastors Conference

We had the first day of our Pastors Conference and it was incredible! A great group of men and women were taught Biblical principles that they will be taking back to their churches here in Haiti.

The day started with some great Haitian praise, worship and prayer. Then Pastor Rob Singleton opened up the conference as he brought a great word on Romans 8:28 and tied it into the story of Joseph and Jacob in Genesis. Pastor Renee Joseph translated into Creole.
My session was next. Opening up with a few phrases in Creole, I went through some principles of leadership which focused the need for a personal growth plan, building others up and building trust. I loved hearing my words being spoken in Creole. The next time Pastor Renee translates for me, I need to remember to check if he’s turned his cell phone off. There’s nothing like a bird chirp ringtone when you’re trying to remember your next point. We just rolled with it.
Pastor Greg Carr treated everyone to a few verses of Jesus Paid It All with the Haitian band playing back up.
It was so cool to go into the third session having Pastor Geoffrey Janes teach on how God uses our trials to make us stronger and more effective for His purposes.
We ended the sessions with Pastor Billy Almaguer bringin’ down the house. He had everyone up on their feet and shouting the fact that we have all been called to proclaim the Gospel of Christ!
Generous donations from our Southbrook family helped fund this conference which will continue tomorrow and flow into the weekend evangelistic crusade.
The attendees were fed a good lunch and then were able to meet us at as they left for the day. Seeing the joy on their faces, getting the strong handshakes and being overwhelmed by their hugs was priceless. The people here are hungry for the Word of God and this event is well worth all the effort.
